Music For Another Moments

Son un conjunto de canciones bonus que, bien por razones de espacio, bien por su disonancia con el resto del álbum han acabado formando este conjunto.
Su peculiaridad reside en su hegemonía respecto a un mismo contexto. Casi todas estas piezas tienen bastante de orquestadas y buena parte de ellas son tranquilas para ser escuchadas concretamente en momento de paz y sosiego. Curiosamente, todas fueron creadas para formar parte de hilos de anuncios, bandas sonoras y temas de ambientación, pero debido a la buena acogida que tuvieron, son parte de esta colección de forma definitiva.

Sunday Afternoon

A diferencia de la colección anterior, esta son caras B e ideas que se quedaron fuera. Generalmente oiréis improvisaciones con bastante ausencia de instrumentación (en oposición a la anterior colección). Los temas son muy poco desarrollados y tienen un carácter marcadamente electrónico y funky.
Todos los temas fueron puntualmente compuestos y grabados en tardes de domingos como indica el título. Y como también avisa el álbum, son canciones carentes de sonidos Metal y pesados.

..::..Derek Sherinian..::..

Derek Sherinian nació en Laguna Beach en California. Sherinian Comenzó tocando el piano de su familia a la corta edad de 5 años y durante sus años en la escuela secundaria se le ofreció una beca en la prestigiosa Escuela de Música de Berklee en Boston. Durante esa estancia coincidió con Will Calhoun quién después tocaría el bajo en grupos como Living Colour o Megadeth y con el guitarrista Al Pitrelli.

Al finalizar su tercer trimestre en Berklee se inició en su carrera musical gracias al batería de la banda Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsies que estaba buscando a músicos para tocar en clubes de R&B a lo largo de Estados Unidos y tras una audición concluyó que Derek era lo que estaban buscando.

En 1989 su antiguo compañero Al Pitrelli por aquellos tiempos director musical de Alice Copper le llamaría para que se uniera a la banda de Cooper con quién realizaría más de 250 conciertos del álbum multiplatino "Trash".

En 1991 coincidiendo con la gira de "Hey Stoopid" el por entonces batería del grupo Eric Singer fue contratado por la mítica banda Kiss. Este hecho no sería más que una anécdota sino fuera porque Eric se acordó de Sherinian cuando surgió la necesidad de un teclista para la gira que Kiss realizaría del álbum "Revenge". Durante esa gira se grabó "Alive III" el que sería su primer álbum con la banda y su primer gran éxito como teclista.

Al terminar la gira Sherinian ponderó cambiar los teclados por la guitarra y estuvo tocando durante un año entero y consiguió un buen nivel en el manejo del instrumento. Pero justamente por esas fechas Dream Theater andaba buscando teclista por la marcha de Kevin Moore así que se presentó a las audiciones y fue contratado. El nombramiento de Sherinian como teclista de Dream Theater coincide con el inicio de la gira del disco "Awake" en Octubre de 1994. El hecho de estar por primera vez en una banda de metal progresivo es un hecho nuevo para Sherinian ya que el tipo de música que él había tocado anteriormente difería bastante de esta modalidad.

Después de cuatro años, tres CDs y dos giras mundiales que comprenden más de 200 conciertos es desvinculado del grupo ya que Dream Theater contrata a Jordan Rudess como nuevo teclista.

Es en este punto cuando decide empezar su carrera en solitario, con el apoyo de la compañía Magna Carta Records y junto al batería australiano Virgil Donati sale a la venta en 1999 su primer álbum titulado "Planet X". Sherinian y Donati deciden expandir su registro musical contratando al guitarrista Tony MacAlpine y creando el grupo Planet X con el que sacaron su disco "Universe" en el 2000. A partir de entonces Sherinian combina sus actuaciones con Planet X con discos en solitario repletos de colaboraciones estelares como son las del legendario batería Simon Phillips, los guitarristas Steve Lukather y Zakk Wylde, el violinista Jerry Goodman y demás artistas de renombre.

On A Island (2006)

Noveno disco solista de David Gilmour, cantante de Pink Floyd. Surge en el 2006 y su primer corte de difusión es el tema homónimo al album. Un compact que recorre cada tema transmitiendo sonidos de mezcla entre lo antiguo de Pink Floyd y un pop nostálgico. Cabe destacar la orquesta que acompaña cada canción. El primer tema Catellorizon recuerda fases de Pink Floyd con un punteo casi familiar. El segundo tema, On an Island, nos transporta a una cabaña en algun lugar junto al mar. The Blue llega para alegrarnos y quitarnos la nostalgia. Take a breath nos recuerda antiguos temas de "protesta de Pink Floyd". Red Sky at night es un hermoso instrumental que no pasa desapercibido, donde Dave muestra sus talentos en saxofón. This Heaven es un tremendo blues a la antigua. Then I close my eyes es una ambientación para el tema que sigue, Smile, el cual, es destacable como el punteo nos lleva de un lado a otro. A Pocketfull of stones, un tremendo tema, y por ultimo, Where we start,... que es donde terminamos diría Gilmour.

Es el segundo álbum en estudio de la banda de metal progresivo Dream Theater, editado en 1992. Es el primer álbum con el cantante James LaBrie, y es considerado una producción germinatoria del género de metal progresivo.

El tema Pull Me Under recibió apoyo sustancial en el aire de MTV y estaciones de radio, y hasta hoy permanece como el hit más grande de la banda. El álbum en sí es el más exitoso comercialmente de todos los álbumes de Dream Theater, alcanzando la certificación de Disco de Oro en los Estados Unidos y Japón.

Es el cuarto álbum del grupo sueco Opeth. Es considerado un álbum conceptual anti-cristiano que sigue el amor de un hombre por "Melinda". Este álbum contiene un mayor nivel de experimentación con las dinámicas entre los elementos oscuros del death metal, y los elementos acústicos y limpios. Still Life podría ser considerado un giro fundamental en la evolución del sonido de Opeth. Es el primer lanzamiento que fue grabado con Martin Mendez en el bajo. El lanzamiento de Still Life fue originalmente programado para finales de Septiembre de 1999, pero fue pospuesto para el 4 de Octubre y luego para el 18 de Octubre, la cual fue la fecha final de lanzamiento.
