Este estilo derivado del grunge, hace una mezcla del pop con el grunge, para hacer un sonido más comercial que el grunge puro.

Se caracteriza por sus riffs simples. Como anteriormente se nombra, el post-grunge suena diferente deacuerdo al origen del estilo, por lo menos un ejemplo claro es escuchar el post-grunge de una banda pop-rock es diferente al de una de hard rock, aun asi este no pierde el estilo que lo hace caracteristico Existe confusiones cuando se habla de como suena el post-grunge, generalmente el sonido es mantenido en cualquier nota/acorde y este luego es desafinado, volviendo luego al sonido original y asi sucesivamente; también por lo general el sonido trata de imitar el sonido vocal del cantante, provocando que el ritmo del riff siga el sonido vocal; de vez en cuando a veces las canciones post-grunge no mantienen los tipicos sonidos instrumentales, pero con el hecho de la letra de la cancion que llegue tocar tema de ideologias tipicas del grunge, se hacen post-grunge también.
